Meal prep can change the way you eat, taking the stress out of your meal plan while supercharging your nutrition.
We all want to eat healthy meals, but life gets in the way. Before you know it, you're struggling to throw together something passable and caving for takeout instead of eating healthily and affordably.
Planning meals ahead of time has tons of benefits, and Kevin's entrees and sides are the perfect complement to any style of meal prep plan: for one person or several, buffet-style meal prep or single-serving meal prep, etc.
Kevin's aids your eating habits by offering delicious entrees of protein and vegetarian sides that can be ready to eat in five minutes. Keep more food fresh and only prepare food that you need to combine with a Kevin's dish.
Tons of meal prep recipes can be made from our catalog of healthy recipes. For example, take the Sweet Chili Chicken Buddha Bowls. Cook the brown rice and vegetables ahead of time so that when you're ready to eat, all you have to do is cook the Kung Pao Chicken.
Don't worry about cooking the chicken ahead of time and keeping it for too long. Kevin's instantly simplifies the practice of eating healthy food.
How many times a week should you meal prep?
It sounds ideal to have prepared meals for the entire week, but some foods won't stay good for quite that long. Some vegetables will grow limp, and proteins like cooked chicken can only be kept for 3-4 days cooked.
Therefore, you may need to meal prep at least twice a week if you're keeping the food in the refrigerator.
Should I freeze or refrigerate meal prep?
Storing meal prep in the freezer can considerably lengthen its period of edibility, but it will have an effect on the texture of your food. Freezing meal prep could allow you to make it only once a week. Make sure you have the best meal prep containers for the job, something that won't get brittle in the freezer.
Different ingredients will keep differently in the freezer. For instance, our Mashed Cauli should never be frozen; overnight oats won't saturate correctly if they're colder than the fridge.
Can I meal prep rice?
Rice can absolutely be meal prepped and makes the perfect side for many Kevin's entrees. Once cooked, rice will last around four days in the refrigerator. It can be frozen to last longer, but some may dislike the texture of once-frozen rice.
How do you keep chicken juicy when meal prepping?
With Kevin's, you never have to worry about this question. Our chicken, like all our proteins, is cooked sous-vide in a vacuum-sealed pouch. This accomplishes several things: it allows us to cook the chicken to the perfect level (fully cooked but without any dryness), and it allows the chicken to marinate in its own juices and some mild seasoning.
This makes Kevin's chicken perfectly juicy and gives it a much longer fridge life. Kevin's chicken can also be frozen, providing the lynchpin of a great meal at any time.
